Onslow Holiday & Caravan Park - Things to see and do

The original town of Onslow was built around the turn of the 19th century near the mouth of the Ashburton River, a majestic north western Australian River. The old town was set up largely to provide port facilities for the produce of the local graziers (one of which were the ancestors of Twiggy Forrest fame).  Following several cyclones which continually damaged the town and silted up the mouth of the Ashburton River a decision was made to relocate the town just south of Beadon Creek to its current location.  The old town site has several old buildings and relics and is signposted to show what was.  Old Onslow is also close proximity to the Wheatstone Natural Gas site where Chevron is building a major on shore Natural Gas processing plant.

The World Heritage Listed Ningaloo Reef is one of Earth’s last ocean paradises. Take a dive with hundreds of tropical fish, colourful coral and the world's biggest fish, the whale shark. One of the largest fringing reefs in the world - and you can reach it just by stepping off the beach.

Whether it's fishing, turtle watching, bird watching or just plain relaxing, the Mackerel Islands is the ideal destination. These pristine waters are home to world-class coral reefs, offering a spectacular array of colourful reef fish and coral formations. 

This natural phenomenon occurs when the full moon rises over the exposed mudflats of Roebuck Bay at extremely low tide, creating the optical illusion of a staircase reaching for the moon. The staircase occurs three nights each month from March to October.
